At the Western Canada Cybersecurity Leadership Forum (CLF) 2025, hosted by NKST, I joined the panel "The Rise of Generative AI & Its Impact on Data Security."

I shared perspectives on the emerging risks and best practices for securing sensitive data as it relates to generative AI, along with how existing frameworks and standards can be used to manage and govern the data that's used to train various AI models. The conversation drew on my work in security governance, risk, policy, and compliance—developing and auditing security programs—and my role on the CSA Z246.1 board contributing to cybersecurity standards for the petroleum and natural gas industry.

CLF 2025 was a great forum for digging into where AI and data security are headed, and I appreciated NKST bringing this discussion to the Calgary security community.
